The Government have recognised the need for full fibre gigabit capable connectivity in the UK and the latest voucher scheme has been aimed at helping small and medium-sized enterprises, along with the local communities surrounding them, gain access to gigabit broadband by providing grants towards the installation cost of getting fibre to your door.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport announced this new Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme in March this year, it is part of the Local Full Fibre Networks Programme which is a Government fund set up to help locally led projects across the UK leverage local and commercial investment in full fibre, which is the “gold standard” for fast and reliable broadband.

There is up to £2500 available for Businesses and £500 for Residential for B4RN to fund your connection. What does this mean? If you are sole trader, run a farm, partnership, ltd company, etc. Then you apply for the business grant and all other connections will be residential.  It only applies if you sign up to B4RN for a 12 month contract. The below will  happen if you do your paperwork and e-mails correctly.

  • For Businesses your £150 connection fee is covered by the GBVS
  • For Businesses there is £300 to cover costs of install
  • For Residential there is £150 to cover costs of install

So essentially if you sign up for a 12 month contract then you get cash back and businesses get a free connection.

Proof of business from your property will need to be evidenced by some form of HMRC documentation or utility bill in the business name.
